Fortunately, I am not alone in this goal, and there are a number of great podcasters, bloggers, and vacation experts ready to help.  One such person is Shannon Albert, author of wdwprepschool.com, and the host of the WDW Prep to Go Podcast.  She has been helping her readers and listeners for years and is full of wonderful insight and great tips.  I was listening to one of Shannon’s podcast episodes a few weeks ago and thought it was so helpful, I had to share with my listeners.  So, I asked Shannon if we could air her episode here on the WDW Ride Guide for your benefit!  She was very kind and has allowed us to do just that today.  So, here in just a moment you will hear the main portion of her episode entitled, Jay’s Disney World Trip Redo – PREP114.  Before we dive in though I...

http://traffic.libsyn.com/wdwrideguide/WDW_Ride_Guide_36-Mickeys_Not_So_Scary_Halloween_Party.mp3Podcast: Play in new window | Download (8.8MB) | EmbedMickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is a seasonal event at the Magic Kingdom that allows guests to dress up, do some trick-or-treating, take photos with costumed characters, see one-of-a-kind nighttime shows and parades, taste seasonal speciality food offerings, and watch a unique fireworks spectacular.  Basically, no matter your age, you get to dress up as your favorite Disney character and fill your bag with candy in between rides at one of the most magical places on Earth! There is a lot to Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, but let’s get started with perhaps the most fun thing, dressing up!  On this night the whole family can get in on the costuming fun.  You may not know this, but Disney does not normally allow adults to dress as a Disney character.  According to their website: Adults can visit the parks if their hair (or makeup, if applicable) resembles a Disney Princess or character, provided that they are not also wearing a costume or clothed to look like the character. Yep, only the little ones get the privilege of visiting the Bippity Boppity Boutique and masquerading as a Disney princess.  That is, unless you are part of Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party!  This is your chance to don those Jack Sparrow outfits or to transform yourself into Princess Anna.  The idea of riding Pirates of the Caribbean as Captain Jack sounds pretty awesome, right?  Or, how about hopping in a doom buggy at the Haunted Mansion as a happy haunt yourself?  Ooh, if you had a party large enough, you could even ride The Seven...

Well, visitors to Disney’s Hollywood Studios will have the opportunity to experience a similar feeling when they shrink to the size of Woody and Buzz.  This new land will transport guests to Andy’s backyard where the surroundings will make everyone feel like a toy.  Space Rangers and Cowgirls will make their way through the outdoor fun zone and be able to saddle up for two new rides. Slinky Dog Family Roller Coaster   We do not have an official name for the new family roller coaster, but we know it will feature Slinky Dog.  This coaster promises to be much tamer than the nearby Rock ’n’...

Who’s ready to have some fun?! With so many exciting rides to come it is hard to know where to begin.  Let’s head over to Disney’s Animal Kingdom for what will be the most significant transformation in the next couple of years.   Sunset Kilimanjaro Safaris                             Kilimanjaro Safaris has been open at Disney’s Animal Kingdom since 1998.  This up close interaction with live animals has been a highlight of the park since it first opened.  However, with normal operation hours of 9 am – 6 pm, there has always been a limited time frame to enjoy this ride. Well, starting next year that will all change as this ride gets a nighttime expansion to help further develop Disney’s Animal Kingdom into an evening destination.  Disney has...
