One of our favorite experiences from our recent trip to Walt Disney World was an interactive game in Adventureland called A Pirate’s Adventure – Treasures of the Seven Seas. We had never taken the time to discover what this little adventure was all about until this trip. We knew from our Disney Cruise that our nephew James, loved the interactive game offered on the Disney Cruise Line. So, before we went to WDW I started looking at the various games offered in the parks. I read up on the Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom, Agent P’s Adventure in Epcot, and A Pirate’s Adventure in Adventureland. For reasons we will discuss in just a moment, I decided the Pirate’s Adventure seemed like the best option for this trip. However, I had no idea it would be as big of a hit as it turned out to be. I’m so excited to tell you all about it today, so let’s get started with our…
Know before you go essential facts:
- The adventure is located in the Magic Kingdom

- Each mission takes about 20 minutes to complete, and there is no time limit on completing the missions

Those are the facts. Now time for the fun!
If it be adventure ye be lookin’ for, you’ve come to the right place! A Pirate’s Adventure – Treasures of the Seven Seas is an interactive game in Adventureland that gives little mateys the chance to help Captain Jack Sparrow raid five lost treasures. With your map in hand, you will uncover hidden clues throughout Adventureland. Follow the clues and you can help Jack defeat the likes of Captain Barbossa, Blackbeard, and the Imperial British Navy. X marks the spot for treasure and victory!
Sounds like fun, huh? So, what exactly is A Pirate’s Adventure? Well, it is not a ride and it is not a show. It is an interactive game that has you walk through the different corners of Adventureland. The scavenger hunt includes talking skulls, firing canons, submerged skeletons and more! Once you have experienced the five missions you will have a new appreciation for the artifacts scattered throughout this land. What seem like static decorations are actually interactive elements just waiting for a little pirate to come bring them to life. The level of depth and detail in each land at the Magic Kingdom makes it easy to overlook these artifacts, but once you know their greater purpose it makes the land feel even more magical.
It is also very easy to overlook the place where your adventure begins, so let’s begin by finding our starting point. The Crow’s Nest is the home of the game. It is an unassuming little building located in-between Adventureland and Frontierland. If you walk past Pirates of the Caribbean, go under the arches connected to the Tortuga Tavern, and then look to your left you will see The Crow’s Nest. A sign hanging outside the building reads A Pirate’s Adventure – Treasure of the Seven Seas.
You enter the building from the side facing Splash Mountain. Inside, there is a fellow pirate surrounded by maps, charts, and everything a pirate needs to navigate the high seas of adventure. This pirate will instruct you on how to help Captain Jack. You learn Captain Jack has already located 2 of the 7 Treasures of the Seven Seas, but needs help finding the final 5. That means he needs you to enlist! To begin, you will tap your Magic Band to the magic map. The map comes to life and asks how many are in your party. After selecting the number of crew you have, the screen assigns you one of the five missions. You are told to collect the map for that mission and then shown a symbol to find on the map. This symbol is your starting point for your treasure hunt. With your map in hand and your starting symbol, you are ready to begin your adventure!
Captain Jack has sworn me to secrecy, and I don’t want any strange curses coming down on my head, so I can’t tell you exactly where each map will lead you. However, I can give you some clues to what each mission holds and how long each will take. With each mission you will be lead to 4-5 different locations in Adventureland. The symbol you begin with will be clearly marked on your map and show you where to start. When you arrive at that point in the land you will be looking for a skull engraved with that symbol. When you find this you simply touch your Magic Band to the symbol. Next, you will hear a voice giving you instructions about your treasure hunt. There may also be something that comes to life while the voice is talking. For example, a hissing cobra may appear from a basket. Be careful as he spits venom to keep you distracted from finding the next clue. You must overcome whatever dangers are thrown your way. The voice will tell you where to look as the next symbol is magically revealed for only a few seconds. When the next symbol is revealed you can locate it on your map and walk to your next destination. After you have traveled to each symbol you will be rewarded by uncovering the treasure. Pay close attention to what the treasure is. You will need to tell your fellow pirate back at The Crow’s Nest what you found.
With your mission complete, you can choose to start another adventure or quit while you are ahead. If you choose to start again, you follow the same process. You will scan your Magic Band on the magic map at The Crow’s Nest and it will reveal your next mission and map. Pirate’s brave enough to complete two missions will be rewarded with Fastpasses for the entire party to board Pirate’s of the Caribbean. These are paper Fastpasses that work just like those handed out for Rider Switch. So, that means you just earned a bonus Fastpass for the day! To make it even better, at the time of recording, the game rewards additional Fastpasses for your 3rd, 4th, and 5th missions. You could ride Pirates of the Caribbean 4 times with a Fastpass if you complete all 5 missions.
Of course, to complete all 5 you will need to devote a good chunk of time to A Pirate’s Adventure. Each mission will take about 15 minutes, meaning it could take an hour and a half to two hours to complete the game depending on how quickly you play and how busy it is in Adventureland. The great thing though is that you can complete the game at your own pace. You can power through all five at once if you like, or split it up and even complete the missions on different days of your visit. There is one more incentive to completing all five missions. In addition to the Fastpasses you will receive a completer card signed by Captain Jack Sparrow himself! Oh, and you do get to keep all of the maps used during your adventure. These make for some great free souvenirs!
That covers the basics of this fun interactive game. If you want to hear about all the fun our family had please listen to the podcast. Here is a look into the fun we had!
A Pirates Adventure – Treasures of the Seven Seas was so much fun for our whole family, and it allowed us to add some fun to another family’s day while we were there. That is a real win/win! I don’t know that I would go so far as to say it was by far the best thing we did on the entire trip. However, for Caleb and James it just may have been. For any little adventurers in your party it is sure to put the wind in their sails and have them riding high on the Seven Seas.
If you decide you want to add this to your touring plan I would recommend doing so early in the day. Completing our final two missions after lunch took a little more time as we had to navigate through larger crowds in Adventureland. I also wouldn’t recommend waiting too late in the day as you might not be able to see all of the interactive elements as easily when it starts to get dark. Check your My Disney Experience App for hours of operation and try to work this into your morning touring.
